Weeks Events Wrap Up

This blog is slowly becoming a party blog. Sorry about that, but recently I have been invited to a billion things a week, maybe because of Summer? Anyway here is what I went to this week:

Thursday:
1: Whitehouse Graduate Runway Show

This was on Thursday night. Photos of the collection will go on Melbourne Street Fashion.com tonight. It was great to see what the students from Sydney have been up to, it made me very excited for next year that's for sure. I'll show you my favourite's when I have edited the photos.

2. Speaker TV launch party

After the Whitehouse show we all headed down to Roxannes as there was FREE Budwieser on offer at the Speaker TV launch. When we got there it seemed everyone had the same idea (the line to get in stretched a whole city block, apparently they had invited 2000 people to a venue which holds only 1000!) Anyway I was like, "I thought I had VIP entry or something???" so my friend Lauren went up the front to find out if I did and it turned out I did (or at least she convinced them that I did), so I grabbed everyone I knew from the line (like 15 people) and we headed in. When other people who were coming later tried to use "Hayley's list" it didn't work, some friends of mine pretended they were from the Herald Sun to get in, lol. What people will do for a free drink! The booze ran out around 10ish so we all headed to Hungry Jacks and then St Jeromes. Oh this was also Henry's Birthday so we got everyone to sing Happy Birthday to him a few times, so much fun!

Friday:
Genki party

Genki is a cute store in the city which sells Kawaii Japanese goods. It was the place that I first discovered Fruits magazine way back in 2001. Anyway it was Ming's Birthday (Happy Birthday Ming, the girl above) and there were free drinks and cup cakes, Oishi!!!

Saturday:
1. Bloggers Meet Up at Madame Brussels

Madame Brussels is one of my favourite bars in the city. I hardly ever get to go though as it's all the way on the other side of the city to me (lol, that's only like 6 blocks away people!) and I tend to stick within a 2 block radius. So it was great to have an excuse to go and drink some yummy cocktails with some lovely ladies.

In attendance were some bloggers I have met before:

Lady Melbourne
Super Kawaii Mama
PorcelainBlonde
Aus style

And some I hadn't:

Peeptoes & Pedicures
Heart of Pearl
Circa Vintage
Vintage Verve

It was so nice to meet up with everyone and to hear their opinions on all things fashion. It seems to me that there is a lot of interest in vintage and vintage style in Melbourne, maybe even a Melbourne look of it? I don't know. Out of the group I would say I'm the most "indie" or dare I say "hipster" (hate that word) and therefore my style is more trend focused, less girly and less vintage. It was an interesting mix, everyone had their own defined idea of style, but we all got along and understood each others views, and of course when I got home I enjoyed reading everyone's blogs with more of an idea about the person behind the blog. Can't wait till the next meet up.

2. House Party (sorry no photos I forgot my camera)

Last night we went to a house party and Henry got so drunk he vomited everywhere and I had to take him home. I slept on the sofa bed because his vomiting was so gross. This was only the 2nd time in 8 years that I have seen him vomit. Poor Henry won't be drinking vodka again for a while. The party was cool though. They decorated the house with candles and made a Romance Was Born inspired Native American light feature...wish I had my camera, oh well.

Today:

We're about to go out to lunch and a design market, and then to Henry's Parents for his birthday dinner. Oh and I have to try and take some street photos.

Tagging Time

I have been awarded not 1 but 2 "tags" recently by 3 very lovely bloggers.

The first one is an "I love your blog" award which was given to me by Super Kawaii Mama.

The rules:
1. The nominated is allowed to put the picture on their blogs.
2. Link to the person who awarded you.
3. Nominate seven other people and link to them.
4. Leave a message on those people's blog to make them aware that they're nominated.

Nominating is so hard, I love so many blogs but here goes:

Lactose Intoler-Art's Blog: An international friendship has blossomed with our love of Japanese street fashion and just Japan in general. I love his drawings of Fruit's kids so much that I bought a t-shirt from his Red Bubble account with my favourite design, I can't wait till it arrives, I plan on wearing it in Tokyo. Yay! (update it arrived and it looks sweet as, I'll post a pic ASAP!)

Spank Party!!!: I miss Tabuchi and the Spank girls so much so I love reading what they are up to on Tabuchi's blog...well reading it in the Engrish that the Babelfish translator spits out...I get the gist of it though. I love all the photos of everyone having fun, but it makes me miss them more, but I'll see them soon YAY and my sister will meet them even bigger YAY.

The adventures of cupcakes: It's so fun to read this blog about an Aussie girl living in Bangkok and the adventures she has. The best post is a toss up between the one about the Elephants in the street not phasing her just annoying her as they slow down the traffic, or the one where she dances the Hammer Dance by MC Hammer so perfectly to win a pair of pants.

With Love and Swallow: Amazing local girl blogging about her cool life seeing bands and guess what she takes her photos with FILM and they look AMAZING! I miss film.

Foreveryoung_Vintage: Her dedication to her ebay store is amazing, always op shopping and ALWAYS finding amazing things. Reading her blog always makes me want to go op shopping ASAP.

Bijou Kaleidoscope: Local interior blogger who has bought her 1st home. I love seeing the process of making a home your own, and one of the best things is her budget isn't huge so I can really relate to her crafty style solutions.

Coax With Candy: She has had a crazy year that's for sure. We bonded over a shared love of Japanese kawaii Swimmer goods (swimmer is a brand of cute mostly plastic stuff) and love of living in Japan (opposite ends of the country though). Her life has been a whirlwind this year and now she is expecting twins, wow. I love her sense of humour too. Oh and she is a super talented web designer.

I have been tagged to do Six Random things about me by Pinkgamegirlrocks AND Foreveryoung_vintage so here goes:

  1. I hate "hot drinks" so I never drink coffee or tea. I just hate the feeling of it going down my throat.
  2. In year 7 in high school I had a "T-Boz" from TLC hair cut, and not by accident either.
  3. I really want to see the movie Australia and like it but I'm nost sure I will. I want it to be successful and to encourage tourists back to the country, but it seems a little weak and cheesy to be able to really fulfil these dreams. I'll still go see it though.
  4. I'm really annoyed that there is a movie called Hachiko coming out starring Richard Geere. People will think that we named our dog after the movie and not the original Japanese story about the dog that loved his owner so much that after the owner died the dog kept going back to the train station to meet him like normal. Now at Shibuya station there is a statue that celebrates the dog which has become a popular meeting spot, akin to meeting under the clocks at Flinders Street.
  5. I really want to try this PedEgg foot shaver thing. Basically it's like a cheese grater for your feet that you use to shave off calluses. I see it on TV every night but I think there is no way that it wouldn't cut you, plus the part where they show you the foot shavings is so gross. I just want to to test it to see if it could possibly work without hurting you. It's pretty expensive for such a stupid product too. Yay for late night infomercials.
  6. I can't tolerate people who tease vegetarians. Why do they do it? I've put up with it for 14 years and it's getting old now. I am happy not eating meat and I don't bother you about your choice so why do you question me?
I tag: The same people from my first tag (minus one who tagged me)!!!!

2 new players in Bourke Street Mall

I had been wondering for a while what new store will open in Bourke Street Mall where Bra's N Things used to be. Then Sportsgirl moved up the road leaving behind their old store leaving yet another empty space in the Mall. I had been hoping that maybe Rubi shoes will finally open a full blown store in Melbourne (apparently they are in some suburban shopping centres) instead of the current Cotton On plus Rubi shoes up the road on Bourke Street. Anyway I walked past the old BNT's space a few weeks ago and there were posters saying Forever New was opening soon in that spot. I had only seen that shop at the DFO on Spencer Street and never really liked it so I was a little disappointed. Then it did open, and boy is it tacky!

I walked past the night before opening night and then again on opening night (I live not very far from the store and I use the laneway beside as a shortcut) it was rather funny what we heard one of the builders say. He said they just built it as they went, there was no interior designer all they had was a shop fitter. Not that there is anything wrong with shop fitters, just I'm married to an interior designer and know that there is a little bit of a difference. It's kinda like when I was looking at rental properties a few years ago with my mum, we went to this place that was newly built but was actually planned by builders and not architects. It was crazy. To get up stairs to the bedrooms you had to walk through a laundry, and then once upstairs there was no landing you actually ended up in one of the bedrooms, all of which were attached so you had to walk through 2 bedrooms to get to the 3rd, and all of them to get to the only toilet in the house. Not only that but the kitchen was a triangle shape and the oven was at the pointy bit of the room...well you couldn't open the oven door! It just hit the wall. Also they forgot a space for the fridge. So yeah pretty much the place was a disaster. Well Forever New is akin to that disaster, a disaster in tackiness that is. Chandelier's are over used, racks are squeezed in and upstairs they even have a special formal (similar to a prom here in Aus) preparation area with a hair and make-up salon. The clothes are no better, polyester frou frou delights in beige and some disgusting floral maxi dresses. I'm probably offending some people, but that store belongs in the suburbs. Oh and the shop girls are of the irritating too happy kind, not to mention overly tanned and blonde. They are calling this their Flagship store. To me a Flagship store has to have something about it that is different, possibly conceptual, so just having a tacky formal salon isn't enough. Flagship stores in Tokyo break the mould, but here they try and don't succeed because they don't invest in the right people. Oh and apparently the founder of New Look UK was there as he is a part owner of Forever New, maybe that explains it a bit better for overseas readers? I remember New Look as being sorta similar, but maybe cheaper, from when I was in the UK (8 years ago now, my memory is faint)

On the other end of the spectrum is the new General Pants Co. store.

I have never liked General Pants much, but I do like this store. I'm not really one for chain stores you see (well expensive ones) I prefer op shops and small boutiques. Anyway when I read that this store was opening in the new issue of RUSSH magazine and that it was going to have different fashion designers design each change room I was excited. I went on opening day, which also coincided with the Bourke Street Christmas parade so it was very crowded. I really liked the indoor garden theme. It looks really cool with all the fake? greenery and wooden panels. It was too crowded to check out the change rooms that day, but I have since returned and wow they are cool. One is set up like a public toilet complete with a toilet bowl, another has a pay phone inside. This part of the store is by far the most interesting. Another thing I noticed was they had these cool chairs by DavidMetNicole which is an uber cool interiors store in Sydney. These chairs sell for a cool $4,900!!!!

Anyway I can't find any interior shots of the store so watch this video from the opening day at the Bourke Street store.

Yeah that video is lame and trying very hard to be young and cool, but you do get to see a lot of the store. what do you guys think? Have you had the chance to visit either store yet?

Happy Birthday Henry

Just got back from partying for Henry's birthday. Lots of fun and lots of stuff to blog about ASAP. Just been so busy, working in my "real job" 10-8pm (extra hours) and then working for the Melbourne Street Fashion website...yikessssssssss so exhausted, how long can this go on? I'm way too tired.

Henry maybe had the best birthday ever. Yay. He is 28 can you believe it? I can't. He is the same 21 year old that I met and fell in love with.

Real Living Magazine

Guess what? An interview with me about my Christmas Decorations is on the Real Living website (not in the magazine though which comes out today btw....maybe one day I'll be in it, but for now WOOOOHOOOOO I'm on the website talking about the Christmas decorations I made last year)

A reminder of what they looked like:

It's almost December so it's all about to start again. This year I'm not sure yet how much I'm going to change. Christmas isn't at my house this year so there is no need to go so overboard but I probably will, lol. Poor Henry hates how girly I make it. He wants to have silver and black decorations this year, but as I said to him I'm not buying them and he won't spend his money on something so "stupid" so therefor I win and red it is, lol.

Body Image + Fashion + Me!

Ok well I kinda have been decided to revisit this theme once again because of 2 things today.

Number 1: The new reality TV show Stylista which as Gawker writes proves "You're Not The Right Fit For Elle If You Can't Fit Into A Sample Size".

Number 2: Something Awful forum thread (never heard of this forum before, but someone has kindly, not, linked to me in the "Ask me about working in the Fashion Industry" thread).

Ok so about Stylista. I actually have only just heard about this show as of today, I don't normally watch American Reality TV shows (I'm all for their Aus versions though, as you all know I loved Project Runway Aus but I have never watched the USA versions. The main reason for this is because of the bitchiness of USA TV shows. PR Aus was so happy in comparison to what I have seen of the USA version even the Helen stuff was light hearted, and after speaking to Oren and Petrova from the show it was all hyped up and out of context anyway...well mostly).

Anyway, for those of you who don't know what Stylista is, basically it's like Project Runway only they are competing to be a Junior Fashion Editor at Elle USA magazine. Sounds like fun yeah? Well not if your a plus size contestant it turns out. Poor Danielle, from the beginning she was the odd one out. I just watched the 1st episode and in the section where the contestants 1st day outfits are judged by a mean stylist, only Danielle is praised, but I got the feeling that the stylist guy didn't want to seem "fattist" so he went soft on her. Anyway that's just my personal observation. The real issue came in the most recent episode where all the contestants had to create an outfit using the Elle sample cupboard. Well there was nothing that would fit Danielle of course. The producers would have known this from the start of course, even way back when they auditioned her to come on. It was all set up to add drama, at the expense of her feelings. It is true that maybe she could have grabbed some accessories and just worked them, but she was obviously embarrassed and ended up in tears in a cupboard. Then the other contestants were going on and on about how the stuff was too big for them, not thinking about Danielle's feelings at all. It was really painful to watch.

I'm not sure what I would have done if I was in her situation. Like I have said before, I know I am fat and I am fine with it (mostly, as I have said many times I want to be as "thin" as I was when I left Japan but that's all been said numerous times before on here and I'm working on it...I say as I'm eating choc chip cookies Henry bought for me after work, lol) Heck I knew when I met Yvan that I was too fat for Facehunter. He is looking for beauty and fashion not crazy fat girl in silly dress and glasses. He did take some photos of me, but not for the site...Anyway I have no delusions on what I can and can not do at this size, I can work behind the scenes, I can't be in front of the camera. I know I'm no model and I'm fine with it.

Then someone says something like this (from the Something Awful thread)

Ichor posted: What do you think of this (with a link to my blog)

Gofrockyourself posted: This is going to be the meanest thing I've said in this thread so far - but there is a reason she's not working for a mainstream magazine (and it's not just that she lives in Melbourne). Fashion is an incredibly prejudiced industry, and looking like she does is sort of like going to an interview with sauce on your shirt.

Is this true? I don't think so, its against the law and discriminatory. The reason I don't work for a mainstream fashion magazine is because I haven't tried to, yet. I'm still studying. It is true that living in Melbourne does mean less opportunity's to work in fashion which is why in 2010 Henry and I are moving to Sydney (also more work for an interior designer, plus Whitehouse has a campus there and you can go on exchange). I thought that it would of course be hard to get a job in fashion, and I do know that my size does mean people are quick to judge and assume things about me. But really "sauce on my shirt".

Is this true? Will I never ever work in fashion? Or will I always be a fashion outsider locked out due to my size?

Spring cleaning

The delivery of the new sofa bed has inspired a total house spring clean and some furniture re-arranging madness, plus a bookshelf transformation as seen below.

I have wanted to colour code my books for a very long time. Yesterday with the help of my sister I finally did. It looks so chic now, before it was such a mess. What do you guys think?

In the spring clean I found an old high school diary from the year 2000. Inside they had put a sort of questionnaire about yourself that I filled in which makes for some hilarious reading (well at least for me).

Millennium Moments, My life in the Year 2000.

My age in the Year 2000: 15-16yrs

My year level: 11B

My school: PHSC

In the Year 2000 my subjects are: Media, Art, Photography, Fashion, International Studies and English.

My favourite subject is: Fashion and Photography.

My least favourite subject is: International Studies.

In the Year 2000 my dream for the future is to become: An arty farty (I guess I meant a creative person)

Or maybe: A Sassy Sista (I have no idea, lol)

In the Year 2000 my career/education goals are: To go and experience life to the full, travelling and studying something arty, hopefully fashion.

In the Year 2000 my friends are: (a long list of people I never see anymore, which is a little sad I guess)

In the Year 2000 my favourite male recording star is: No answer

In the Year 2000 my favourite female recording star is: Macy Gray (lol wtf)

In the Year 2000 my favourite performing groups are: Inka Marka (they still play in Bourke Street Mall, its the South American group, I used to really like them, lol), Red Hot Chillie Pepers, Sugar Ray, Spiderbait and The Living End (all of which I can't stand now, lol)

My favourite music is: Techno, Dance, Alternative, Native, Folk (I still like techno dance stuff now, you know like The Presets)

In the Year 2000 my favourite TV shows are: Dawsons Creek and Buffy.

In the Year 2000 my favourite male actor is: Seth Green (what happened to him?)

In the Year 2000 my favourite female actor is: Kate Winslet and Wionna Ryder.

The movies I have seen in the Year 2000: The Blair Witch Project (this movie was so scary at the cinema), Sleepy Hallow, Girl Interupted, Being John Malkovich, American Beauty and The Beach. (Kinda seems like a good year for movies hey?)

My favourite sport is: Surfing (I actually went on Surf camp that year and really liked it but have never done it again. It was so hard to try and stand up, I think I only managed to kneel, lol, but still it was a fun experience, that camp was one of my favourites)

In the Year 2000 my favourite footy team is: Carlton (still is but I don't actually follow the sport at all. Henry updates me on how it's all going which is badly I think for my team, he is a big supporter of Essendon and watches the games all the time. He only goes to a game maybe once a year though, it's all over for this year right, the Grand Final allready happened yeah?)

In the Year 2000 my favourite foods are: Vegetarian, Mexican and Indian (still the same)

In the Year 2000 the things I love doing the most are: Hanging out with my friends at the park after school (this started in year 8 and continued all through high school, all of my group, which was a big one of maybe 30 people, would go to the local park after school and hangout for an hour maybe eating fish and chips or something and then heading home or off to a party or a sleepover. We never did anything too naughty, but there was some tags on the play equiptment by us. I think my "Pia is a bitch" is still there, lol...well she was), Sleepover parties, Dancing at Nightclubs (yep when I was 16 me and my friends would go to Brunswick Street and try and get into clubs, there were 2 that always let us in. We never drank really, we were too scared to go up to the bar, we would just dance, dance, dance).

Best Books I've read in the Year 2000: Memoirs of a Geisha.

5 years from now in the Year 2005 I see myself: Living in Paris. Starting my career in fashion or photography (this sadly didn't happen...in 2o06 I lived in Tokyo instead...kinda close? and only now am I getting close to starting this fashion/photography career)

10 years from now in the Year 2010 I see myself: With my babies in Brazil. Established my career and am now on holidays permanatly (ok wtf babies in Brazil??? I like the idea of being on holidays forever but I doubt that by 2010 that would really be possible for me, instead I'll be in 2nd year at Uni with no babies in sight for a long, long time!)

25 years from now in the Year 2025 I see myself: Retired in India (hmmmm maybe it's possible still?)

Well that was me in the Year 2000. Still kinda similar I suppose but maybe I'm a bit more realistic now.

***Please note the Spring clean is still going so photos of the new look living and dining are will come ASAP!

The long goodbye

Last night was Yvan's last night in Melbourne. So to send him off we had goodbye drinks at St Jeromes which turned into another crazy night of drunken shenanigans. I will miss Yvan's hilarious outlook on life and his accent which makes everything he says a million times funnier than it may have otherwise been. To tell you the truth when I first met him I thought he was rude and stand offish, but after getting to know him these past 2 weeks I realised that first impressions aren't always the best in judging someones character. Anyway goodbye Yvan, have fun on your world adventures and I'll see you in March.

My friend Tony got "wizzard" which means he drank enough beer that the cans were as high as him. Yep I don't really recommend this.

2 of these girls (the 2 on the right) are hopefully going to Whitehouse with me next year. Fingers crossed they get in (I'm sure they will!) The middle girl is Charlotte Webb from the Melbourne legging's label Serena Van Der Woodsen who you may remember from my interview with her at Melbourne Street Fashion.com and she has her own blog too (if you read her blog please note that we have cleared up any misunderstandings about the article I wrote and are friends once more, yay!)

My camera was playing up last night and 99% of the photos are blurry (ok maybe I was really drunk) so these are the best shots. Oh well it was a fun night. So much more I could write about. I will say Yvan is a bit of a man slut and he knows it, so funny really. Do you know what was surprising, so many people didn't know who he was, people who I would have thought would know for sure. Sometimes when we were out it would be me who was getting recognised and not him. Slightly funny really. FH and FH...sorry just realised that same blog initials.

In other news I bought this great retro/vintage white sofa bed on ebay for $122.

It gets here on Friday. As soon as it does I'll post a picture of the new lounge set up. So excited, now when people stay over they have somewhere comfortable to stay. I have wanted a sofa bed for more than a year, and have been getting desperate about it as I have my best friend staying with me next March for 2 months from the UK and my sister sleeps over every weekend because my house is so central, but the current couch kills her back. Yay for keeping my guests happy. Plus white is much better than the current green couch (looks identical to this one only its green and not a sofa bed) as our house is mostly red and white. Apparently it is really comfortable as at the house that its currently in guests choose to sleep on it instead of the guest bed.

Dress Sketch

This is the sketch I did today at work of the dress that I am making for my Japan trip as I kinda want to have something original to wear and I have had this idea for years and years since some costumes I designed for a play I worked on back in 2004. Anyway here it is.

To explain the black is black vinyl and the colourful areas are where I will have cut shapes into the vinyl so there are bursts of colour coming through from the dress underneath. My idea is that the dress is very colourful and light weight and it will have a hood at the back and draw strings for that hanging down the front. A very street look but with an edge I guess. I could really wear any dress underneath but I really like a fabric I bought a while ago and wanted to incorporate it into the dress.

These are my fabrics. I bought 2 metres of black vinyl (ouch it cost me $30!) I probably only needed about 1.5 anyway but I got the extra bit just in case something goes wrong. The other fabric is one I have had for a very long time that Henry's mum bought me. It's actually brighter in person. I really like that it looks almost like an aboriginal dot painting because as some of you know I am really into Australiana at the moment and kinda think it could take off in Japan.

I'll post updates with how it is going soon. I doubt I'll have time to start sewing until next weekend but I can't wait.

BTW Vinyl is a lot heavier then I thought though. This dress may end up being unwearable but I think it will be fine. Who knows, you may see me in Fruits magazine wearing this while I'm there (yeah I still dream of that, Fruits is my number one love over any other street blog/magazine etc They just pale in comparison, yes even my own work or even that of Yvan the Facehunters! Fruits is what made me go out as a 16 year old and start taking photos of the people I saw in Melbourne, back when 99% of the people thought I was crazy and would say no and back then I had to actually process my photos at the local Kodak centre. Boy how times have changed, now 99% say yes. Soooo much easier!)

Ummm remember her?

Hey I just found out that Stye Bytes the BLOG is back up...no new posts as of yet. An exciting development for all of us fans out there. I have been missing my daily hit of Agathe. Now we just need Fops and Dandies to return and my life will be complete. Just kidding, but I am happy she is back, or at least her old posts.

Henry's Graduation show Index08

Henry has finally finished studying Interior Design at RMIT. His graduation show was held last Friday night in an old wharf shed at the Docklands. It was a cool location for the show, every year they get better and better (the 1st one we went to was in an abandoned warehouse, last year it was in a car park)

I love how futuristic the docklands area looks. Its basically Melbourne's Odaiba (similar area in Tokyo)

Henry's work was of course the best!

Someone's model was pretty amazing though

Another student made a video

Henry and his friend Darren

My friend Lauren enjoyed the drinks

In other news the Peter Alexander dress was very very unflattering :< The fabric was very clingy and the only way I could wear it would be if I wore a jacket over it all the time because it made my arms look even more flabby then normal. However I bought a plain black dress at Savers which IS flattering and I'm thinking about doing some kinda of cute face or something on it...I kinda want to have some new crazy clothes to wear in Tokyo you see. I have also bought 2 metres of black vinyl at Spotlight to make something interesting. Stay tuned for a sketches and progress on that project.

Oh and to all those people who were asking how I met Yvan, I met him on myspace, nothing exciting really.

ALSO sorry to anyone who has been checking out Melbourne Street Fashion.com daily after I said I was going to be posting new street photos every day. Since starting full time work my posting has again become irregular, just like it has here too. Hopefully this will change as I get more used to the early starts and late finishes and having only 2 days every week to veg out (how people work full time for their whole lives I will never understand) Do check out the site today though, a new article is up and some new photos. While you're there join the mailing list as we send out weekly updates now. Yay!

Ok so in the next few days expect blogs about (this is to remind me to write them as well):

  • New design/sewing project
  • A cool new online magazine
  • Blog awards (sorry to those who have tagged me, I am aware just way too busy to do much about it at the moment...soon I promise)
  • Travel packing and outfit planning for my trip to Tokyo with photos (I start thinking about this stuff months before I travel, it's what I think about ecvery day to get through work!)
  • New Sofa bed I bought on ebay (well new vintage)
  • New Art craft project for my home inspired by Africa!
  • Plus Christmas preperations (and maybe some exciting news to do with a famous magazine!)
So many ideas and so little time.
