Rainbow Paddle Pop

 photo Walter01_zps2b882bdf.jpg
I've been wearing my new Mercibeacoup tie-dye cardigan nearly every day since I bought it, which more than makes up for its somewhat pricey price tag. A friend commented that it reminds her of a Rainbow Paddle Pop, a popular Australian icy pole (popsicle for those in the USA, ice lolly in the UK - I love the different names for things in English speaking countries, it sure made teaching English in Japan interesting) I keep pairing it back with even more tie-dye, creating a look that is even more like a Rainbow Paddle Pop don't you think? Mixing prints of the same family, in this case the tie-dye family, is often seen as a big no-no - but I say no to that no-no as breaking the rules is fun, especially when the result is so colourful. I wore this to the Walter Van Beirendonck media preview and opening night, although I jazzed up my accessories and make-up a little for the opening night party but didn't think to photograph the changes. Oh well, the day time version is still pretty rad. Thanks to my pal Laurie Luxe for taking these photos on the day xxx

This bag has served me well since I bought it a few months ago but it's pretty scuffed and scratched at this point thanks to almost daily wear. I'm thinking of just replacing it with the same bag again which is still available at Sportsgirl cos it's just so cheap and so perfect but I know that it will also end up mega scratched too. What to do?

Nail wraps never last very long on me and sadly these Meadham Kirchhoff SS12 nail wraps were a little worse for wear after just one day which you can see here. So cute though.

Illuminati

 photo Illuminati01_zpsc03569b0.jpg
I spotted this iridescent tote bag from across the street and rushed inside Sportsgirl to buy it. I've been in need of a new everyday bag that fits all my crap as well as my bulky SLR so finding this was a godsend. I've only seen iridescent clutches, and I really don't need any more clutches (just ask Henry) so the fact that this is a useful and practical tote as well as being iridescent is why I rushed to buy it. Whenever I'm out shopping with Henry and I spot a bag I like, his first comment is "will your bloody camera fit"? You see, if I wear a clutch bag Henry always ends up having to carry my camera and its his most hated thing in the world (well you'd think so at least with the way he complains about it). So you could say this bag is a relationship saver too.

Arggg I hate all my flyaway hairs, anyone have any tips for how to control them and stop them from happening? My hair is so fine and there isn't much of it so I really don't need these breakages. My Bespecd glassed have been getting so many compliments which is a first for a pair of prescription specs for me so I couldn't be happier with them. The melting Chanel logo necklace from Fashiondacci reminds me of things I'd see on the streets of Harajuku. It's also rather ironic seeing as my style is the opposite of that old Coco Chanel quote "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off".

The Freak of Nature skirt from ASOS reminded me of prints I would wear in the 90's, in particular these popular singlets that I remember every teenage girl having. Thus I couldn't pass up getting the skirt although I worried about sizing but the 14 fits me perfectly.

Look how awesome the iridescent nature of this tote bag is. So much metallic rainbow goodness.

Snake charmer

 photo Verner02_zps8c8763b6.jpg
One of my all time favourite Australian labels was the Melbourne brand TV by Monika Tywanek & Ingrid Verner. TV had a strong cult following and even showed at Australian fashion week in 2009 (back when it was still called RAFW). I have featured the brand on my blog a lot over the years (here, here, here & here) and I was even lucky enough to go behind the scenes on one of their last look-book shoots with the still relatively unknown at the time Samantha Harris. They sadly parted ways in 2011 but the V in TV, Ingrid Verner, is back with her own eponymous label; Verner. Staying true to TV's heyday, Verner has those familiar playful prints and unique silhouettes that TV epitomised but it has moved towards a more quirky aesthetic, if that was even possible. I picked up this Verner dress at a recent sample sale here in Melbourne and its fast become one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe. I can't wait to see what Verner do next.

I am so in love with my new specs from Bespecd that the lovely Bespecd team sent me. If you're a glasses wearer then you'd know that finding glasses that you like and that are affordable is an almost impossible task so when I saw Bespecd's amazing new season collection full of so many frames that I loved all priced at $95 including prescription I was beyond excited. I chose the Minsk in Lilac but I was also tempted by the Porto in midnight black, the Nara in both the rose pink and the speckled tortoise and the Treviso in white marble, but pretty much all of them caught my eye and I'll probably end up buying a few more pairs very soon!

Getting in on the cat bag trend I picked up this beauty at Fashiondacci here in Melbourne. Fashiondacci have redesigned their online store so it's easy to navigate and this bag is currently available but selling fast. Cho kawaii!

I've been following local Melbourne jewellery label Eat Me Do's work for a while now as they've been growing and expanding their line. The label's offerings are all based on food, with fruit, coloured popcorn, ravioli and even broccoli turning up as colourful wearable  and realistic jewellery pieces. When I saw the killer python bangle I knew I had to have it as it looked just like the popular Australian lolly plus its only $40!

I have no idea where I got these cute fish socks from but I feel they were a Christmas pressie last year. I'm sooooo happy to finally have clear glitter jelly heels back in my possession. I have a fond memory of buying my first pair when I was 12. I saw them at my local Sportsgirl when shopping with my mum but they had sold out of my size and the Melbourne Central store was the only place that still had them. I begged and begged my mum for them until she was fed up and said I could go into the city on my own for the first time ever and buy them for myself. So into the big scary city I went, straight to Sportsgirl to buy my clear glitter jelly heels. Unfortunately I grew out of them in my teen years but I have never forgotten them, heck I blogged about wanting a pair back in 2008 so to finally have a pair again is a dream come true. I got mine from Topshop but ASOS have them in occasionally too (they sell out fast).
