Pink Pom Pom & WIN: Lime Crime Pink Velvet thanks to Makeupnet

I wore this outfit to VAMFF's Graduate Showcase - photos of which will finally be up on the blog this week. For now I wanted to share with you my super kawaii all pink outfit. So much for being over pink - I don't think that will ever actually happen to be honest, I mean how could it? I bought the Romance Was Born t-shirt earlier this year at the Boxing Day sales at David Jones (FYI it's still on sale). I loved their collaboration with Australian artists Pip & Pop who created the amazing set for their MBFWA runway show last year so owning a piece of that magic collection is a dream come true. The over the top pom pom cardigan was a Tokyo purchase from my last visit back. I got it at 'it' shop Bubbles in Harajuku but sadly the pom poms all started to fall off on my first wear - luckily this happened in very friendly Tokyo where I had people running after me pom pom in hand after seeing it fall off - this happened at the train station, at a cafe and on the street. Anyway Henry offered to sew them on more securely for me and now they should last, just not sure how to wash it?

So many pom poms! Gotta love it.

I bought these Karen Walker Helter Skelter sunglasses on a buy and sell facebook page but am a little unsure if they suit me. It's kinda too late to on sell them though as I already had my prescription put in, although I did keep the original lenses. My favourite Karen Walker Orbit's have proved to be impossible to get my prescription lenses in because of the unusual metal pieces around frame. Not sure what to do, let me know what you think in the comments.

I'm so happy I splurged whilst in Tokyo on this great unicorn necklace by my friend Mademoiselle Yulia's label Giza.

This bag is another Boxing Day sale buy from earlier this year. No idea why it's taken me so long to blog it as I wear it so often.

DIY Kawaii Decoden Phone Case & Competition!!!

The other day on instagram I posted a photo from my crafternoon decoden session where I decorated my new mobile phone cover, covering it in faux whipped cream and kawaii 3D cakes and lollies. A DIY tutorial was requested on that photo so I bought an iphone5 cover from Daiso and gathered my supplies.

You will need

  • Measuring jug
  • Daiso Soft Clay
  • Piping bag
  • Piping nozzles
  • Daiso woodcraft bond or PVA glue
  • Mixing spoon
  • Plastic container for mixing
  • Phone case (hard plastic, leather and vinyl all work but latex covers won't)
  • Cabochons (you can search Etsy for decoden cabochons but I bought 3D stickers, buttons and erasers from Daiso)

Daiso Soft Clay comes in a variety of colours. I bought the white and salmon pink but only used the white today.

The soft clay air dries so it comes in an air tight bag. You will only need about half the packet for one phone case so remember to re-seal the left overs to use another time.

Break up the soft clay in small pieces into your mixing bowl.

This is what half a block of clay torn up into small pieces looks like.

Using your measuring jug pour approx 25mls of cold water in to the bowl.

Mix this in - the consistency will be a little watery at this stage.

Now add a squirt and a half of the craft glue into the mixture.

Mix it all together. It should now thicken slightly and start to resemble the consistency of whipped cream.

Place the mixture into your piping bag using the whipped cream nozzle.

It should squirt out like this.

Using the piping bag squirt out little faux whipped cream puffs over the desired area on your phone case.

Keep going until the whole area is covered.

Now comes the fun part - it's time to decorate your creation.

I decided to place the largest cabochon piece in the middle.

I kept going until I was happy with the design. You can add glitter, crystal stickers or anything you want really. It's totally up to you.

Ta-da the finished decoden iphone 5 cover. You need to leave it out to air dry in a safe place for up to three days. It should be hard to touch when completely dry and ready to use.

As I don't have an iphone5 I've decided to do a giveaway to WIN this kawaii one of a kind decoden'd iphone5 cover.
The prize The iphone5 phone case lovingly decoden'd by yours truly. Plus a surprise package of kawaii bits and bobs from Tokyo just because I love you.
To enter Simply comment on this post with your favourite dessert - mine is chocolate mousse always and forever. Don't forget to leave your email, twitter or blog address so I can get in touch with you if you win.

Win a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag thanks to Reebonz

 photo Marc-Jacobs-bag-Reebonz-01_zps04333698.jpg
I've been so busy lately it's kinda insane, if you haven't heard by now I'm now the Plus Size columnist for Shop Til You Drop magazine - which has just gone to a fortnightly mag from monthly. I am so excited to have my name in print in the largest fashion magazine in the country - talk about dream come true! Seriously, I've bought STYD mag since it's launch and for me to be writing for the mag and writing a plus size column at that is something teenage me would faint over. Plus size fashion was never in any of the mags I bought as a teen, if this column in any way helps someone build confidence like it would've helped me then it's worth all the stress. Talking about shop til you drop, boy did I  ever shop til I drop over the weekend! This whole outfit is practically new, the Alpha60 pinafore dress was on sale at Alphaville and as I've been looking for a midi length pinny for a while I bought it on the spot. Unfortunately it gets wrinkly fast, but maybe with a less thick top underneath I can control the wrinkles a little? The tie-dye top is by my most favourite Japanese label ever - Mercibeacoup, who I first saw at Tokyo Fashion Week way back in 2007. Every trip back to Japan I try to buy a piece but now thanks to Pet Shop Girls, a new-ish (new to me, it opened while I was away) boutique in the city that stocks all the best of Japanese fashion, I can do so from Melbourne. Gotta love this city.

Sunnies Nasty Gal $20
Pinafore dress Alpha60 sale down from $220 to $155
Tie-dye cardigan Mercibeacoup from Pet Shop Girls $265
Pink bag Marc By Marc Jacobs 'Preppy Sia' bag in Rock Lobster from Reebonz which you can WIN details below
White flatfroms Jeffrey Campbell Mayview from Zomp $135
Neon pink socks Gift from Fashiondacci
Necklace Symantha Rose available at Lenko
Pom pom bangle Glebe Markets $10

I wore this out on an art gallery hop with my sister over the weekend. There are so many amazing exhibitions on at the moment but not enough time to see them all.

I actually really want to replace these cheap white sunnies with an even better pair by Tsumori Chisato that are more oversized and cat eye that Pet Shop Girls stock, but for now these will do. The expense adds up when you take into account I need to put prescription lenses in all my sunnies, I already have two I need to do as it is.

I've been wanting an excuse to wear my Meadham Kirchhoff SS12 nail wraps for so long, I didn't want to waste them. Well this week Walter Van Beirendonck - one of my all time favourite designers, is coming to Melbourne for an exhibition and series of talks at the newly opened RMIT Design Hub so what better time than now? I love the cute vintage motifs from Meadham Kirchoff's SS12 collection and that there is also a vagina nail.

I'm so excited to be partnering with Reebonz to give away this cute over the shoulder nylon Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Preppy Sia' bag in rock lobster. I love the sporty feel of the bag but I feel that it can be styled in so many different ways. I decided to rock it with this architectural sporty pink outfit but you can tone it down or dress it up as it really is a statement piece.

My new Spice Girls inspired white velcro flatforms by Jeffrey Campbell. I remember wanting a similar pair so much when the Spice Girls were around, so excited to be able to rock them now.
