Pink Pom Pom & WIN: Lime Crime Pink Velvet thanks to Makeupnet

I wore this outfit to VAMFF's Graduate Showcase - photos of which will finally be up on the blog this week. For now I wanted to share with you my super kawaii all pink outfit. So much for being over pink - I don't think that will ever actually happen to be honest, I mean how could it? I bought the Romance Was Born t-shirt earlier this year at the Boxing Day sales at David Jones (FYI it's still on sale). I loved their collaboration with Australian artists Pip & Pop who created the amazing set for their MBFWA runway show last year so owning a piece of that magic collection is a dream come true. The over the top pom pom cardigan was a Tokyo purchase from my last visit back. I got it at 'it' shop Bubbles in Harajuku but sadly the pom poms all started to fall off on my first wear - luckily this happened in very friendly Tokyo where I had people running after me pom pom in hand after seeing it fall off - this happened at the train station, at a cafe and on the street. Anyway Henry offered to sew them on more securely for me and now they should last, just not sure how to wash it?

So many pom poms! Gotta love it.

I bought these Karen Walker Helter Skelter sunglasses on a buy and sell facebook page but am a little unsure if they suit me. It's kinda too late to on sell them though as I already had my prescription put in, although I did keep the original lenses. My favourite Karen Walker Orbit's have proved to be impossible to get my prescription lenses in because of the unusual metal pieces around frame. Not sure what to do, let me know what you think in the comments.

I'm so happy I splurged whilst in Tokyo on this great unicorn necklace by my friend Mademoiselle Yulia's label Giza.

Like a Lady

This is part one in a three part series in collaboration with Lady Petrova in celebration of the opening of her new online store. I've been a big fan of Petrova's cute style since first seeing her on season one of Australia's project runway back in 2008 (which I blogged about here) and have been a loyal customer of her eponymous boutique ever since. Her latest Spring/Summer collection 'Sisters of the Crown' is possibly her cutest yet with it's beautiful lace pieces and free floating petals in the dress I'm wearing as a skirt above. It was so fun to play around with a few pieces from Lady Petrova's latest collection, shooting in the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens Conservatory, even if it was too hot in there for poor ol' Henry and all the tourists wanting photos with me (I think the bow may have stood out...maybe?).

Skirt Lady Petrova 'pocket full of posies dress' worn as skirt

This giant pink bow is like the best thing ever. Perfect for Spring Racing season or a walk in the park if like me you enjoy being mobbed by tourists.

Lavender

One of our fondest memories of living in Tokyo seven years ago is of riding our bikes around daily. Living within riding distance of Harajuku, Shinjuku, Shibuya and even Koenji and Shimo-Kitazawa meant we used our bikes as our main form or transportation, even riding home at 4am a little worse for wear after a night at Trump Room in Shibuya. Somehow we just never got into that habit since moving back to Australia - not sure why that is really, I even owned a great second hand bike for a while but just never rode it so we sold it before the move to Sydney. Now that we're back in Melbourne and no longer living in the CBD - where we never really feel safe riding on the busy roads, we thought it was time to get back in the saddle so to speak. We're currently in Fitzroy which is ideal for bike riding, the back streets are safe and mostly car free - just like where we would ride in Tokyo. I loved my red Japanese mamachari so much, for $90 new it really was a great bike. You can't really get a bike that cheap in Australia so when I saw Reid Cycles vintage styled ladies bike for $235 I knew that was the bike for me, especially as it came in so (read too) many pretty colours to choose from. I eventually went with the cute pastel lavender as in person the pink was a bit too metallic for me. Henry found his bike on Gumtree (our version of Craigslist) and yesterday we went on our first ride together and had so much fun. We rode to East Brunswick and had brunch at Small Block, and checked out some cute boutiques I've been meaning to visit forever - Monk House Design and Kuwaii who were having a cute little wedding ideas event (check out my instagrams from the day) and then rode on to Brunswick Savers where I actually picked up the cute lavender top and skirt I'm wearing in this outfit. We stopped and had well deserved ciders at a local pub and then had rode home through Carlton stopping for dinner along the way. Talk about an epic first ride but oh what fun we had. So happy to be back in the bike lane.

Going to an op shop (thrift store, charity shop etc) with a set idea of what you want to find is never a good plan, but it so worked for me this time. I went in to Savers hoping to find some cute pastel purple pieces and voilà I found exactly what I was looking for. The op shops gods were certainly looking out for me because that has never happened to me before.

So happy to finally own my dream sunglasses thanks to an early Christmas present from my mum. I've been lusting after these Tsumori Chisato cat eye sunnies from Pet Shop Girls since I first tried them on in March, every outfit I've put on since then I've been thinking "if only I had those sunglasses to top it all off". Also a lovely reader saw that I wanted a pair of Poms fluffy pom pom earrings but don't have my ears pierced so she made me a pair of clip-on earrings and sent them to me. So lovely.

Pastel Punk

I had been on the hunt for a vintage denim dress for ages when I stumbled across the perfect one at Melbourne plus size vintage store Hey Fatty who had market stall a few weeks back. Since then I've practically been living in this acid wash a-line midi length dress. I've styled it so many different ways so far but this look is one of my favourites with it's pastel punky 80s vibes. Generally the only outfits that end up getting shot are what I wear on the weekends as otherwise there's no one around to take photos of me, so it makes it hard to share all my outfits because by the time the weekend rolls around I may be bored of something and more often than not the weather is terrible. But not this past weekend, the weather was great on both days so we were able to shoot two looks in the one weekend - totally unheard of! I wore this out to brunch and a spot of bicycle shopping (guess what colour bike I got?). We snapped the photos at this great new wall of graffiti by Lucas Grogan that popped up in our street recently, watching the piece develop was amazing to witness over the couple of days it took to complete.

I was sent an array of amazing Lime Crime cosmetics to review from Makeupnet who are the distributors of Lime Crime in Australia & NZ. Above I'm wearing Lime Crime's 'Great Pink Planet' lipstick which is a pastel pink shade with a hint of fluoro. As a big fan of Lime Crime lipsticks I am so happy to have this one in my collection after lusting after it for a long time. The colour is perfect with my skin tone and I do love all things pastel. I'm not a beauty blogger but I'm thinking of doing a post of swatches from my Lime Crime collection and better detail photos of the product on, would that be something you want to see? Let me know in the comments below.

Op-shopping in Adelaide RULES. Can't wait to share with you more from that trip soon.

Necklace Op shop in Adelaide for $2

I go through badge wearing stages and have a pretty big collection ranging back from my teen years. Above the Sarcasm and Lame badges are from Fashondacci and the usagi bunny badge is from Chinatown when I was around 15. Will I ever grow up and stop liking the same things I did when I was younger? I sure hope not!

Badges two are from Fashiondacci

This pineapple clutch is like the best thing to happen to bags since sequins were invented. I love it so much, I have it on display in my room just so I can look at it at all times - that's how much I love it.

Pink Picnic

Spring is finally here in Melbourne and Henry and I have been soaking up every single bit of sunshine that we can. After three years in always sunny Sydney this past winter in Melbourne has been a bit of a shock to our systems with the bone chilling cold arctic winds which are mostly unheard of in Syders. Taking Hachiko to our local park for a picnic is one of our favourite Sunday rituals that mostly stopped over winter mostly due to Hachi's fear of getting his feet wet (yes our dog is a bit of a princess and refuses to walk if the ground is wet). So this past Sunday when we saw how sunny it was we headed down to the beautiful Carlton Gardens for a cute little picnic. I love visiting Carlton Gardens so much as not only is it beautiful but it's also full of memories as I spent a lot of time in them growing up as I actually went to Carlton Gardens Primary School (well back then it had the less fancy name of Carlton Primary Rathdowne Street). I broke my arm riding my bike just behind where this photo was taken doing bike education with my class and my primary school would go on 'excursions' fishing for yabbies in the pond behind me (which seems really weird and crazy in hindsight - yabbies in a man made pond in a park in the city? I don't remember if we caught any to be honest). Feeding the possums at night and seeing drunk couples skinny dip in the fountain. So many fond memories in this place but what is really nice is making new ones with Henry and Hachiko.

My picnicking essentials. I've had this strawberry picnic mat from Japan for years, I actually bought it for my wedding. My pretty pink parasol is so old I have no idea where I got it but I'm guessing Ishka maybe? Or a $2 shop knowing me.

I am in LOVE with this ASOS Curve dress. It was sitting in my saved basket for ages as I was trying to work out if I should get the ASOS Mainline version or the Curve. I am glad I chose the Curve as even though it's a little big around the bust I prefer the smaller keyhole front as it means I can wear a bra without it possibly being on show and smaller cut out back as I get sunburnt so easily I try to minimise exposed areas - especially hard to reach areas for sunscreen. I mean I picnic with a parasol!

I love love love this new Carousel Lip Gloss in Candy Apple Glitter by Lime Crime that Makeupnet sent me. It's one of those rare products that looks exactly like the product image - shiny glittery apple red goodness - like you can actually see the glitter which surprised me, although I must say it can get a little messy when applying as it's rather gloopy but with some practice it looks amazing. Makeupnet are the distributors of Lime Crime cosmetics in Australia ans New Zealand and their webshop has all your Lime Crime favourites and latest releases with great shipping rates in Aus/NZ! They sent me lots of Lime Crime goodies, can't wait to share them all with you.

Rubi Shoes are really terrible quality, you'd think I would've learnt by now as nearly every pair I've ever bought I've had to return or exchange as they've broke. Well I wore these jelly sandals out for the first time and what a surprise they broke, luckily they did so outside the Rubi Shoes store so I could easily exchange them (sans receipt) but I don't hold much hope for these lasting much longer either. I should've got a pair of Juju or Jelly Beans instead for a little bit more. Oh well what do you expect for $14.95?

Heart melting cute

Photobucket
Sorry about the short blogging break. I jetted off to Melbourne to celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year staying at my sister's house who *shock horror* doesn't have the internet. Yes I could have used an internet dongle but I was having too much fun catching up with family and friends which I hope is what you all have been doing this holiday season, well that and shopping up a storm at the boxing day sales. I got this amazing vintage leather biker jacket on sale on at Vintage Sole on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy and practically lived in it all week thanks to Melbourne's mild nights. Sydney wont be cold enough for it till March I think. I have been looking for a vintage biker since I lost mine one drunken night in Melbourne, the trouble was it had to be cropped as that's the most flattering cut for my large hips but all, and I mean ALL, the bikers I found were too long. Then bam, walked into Vintage Sole and saw this beauty cropped biker hanging on display on the wall, ask Henry if he thinks it will fit, he says no as he just couldn't be bothered standing around while I tried it on, I go ahead and ask the staff to get it down anyway and holy heck it fits like a glove. The price was a little high for me at $155 on sale but with Christmas money in my purse and the desire of months and months of searching and finally finding what I'd been looking for at the forefront of my mind I ignored Henry's protestations over the cost (after telling him it was only $100 anyway) and bought this baby then and there. And boy did it feel good, #YOLO #noregrets and all that.
