Back to the blog

So our internet wasn't reconnected by Thursday, and infact it still isn't. Luckily I am in Sydney right now and my hostel has good cheap internet. I have heaps of photos from my trip so far, but those will have to wait a day so I can finally blog about my new clothes that I got in Melbourne! The top, skirt, shoes and necklace in the above picture are all new. The top was $7.50 at some store at DFO, the skirt was on sale from $99 to $40 at Sussan (very Christopher Kane no?), the wedges were a gift from Henry but were $40USA from Urban Outfitters (ended up costing $70AUS incl postage) and the necklace was a gift from Alicia whose blog is Sea of Ghosts and who is the designer behind Drink Me Alice. It feels like I haven't had new clothes for ages so it was so great to have a practically all new outfit and such a beautiful necklace to top it all of. Thanks so much Alicia.

I am in love with these wedges. The laces and cut outs = oh my. Thanks Henry xxx

My photos of the necklace weren't nearly as good as the ones from the online store so I have just used their images. How cool is the anatomical heart and the little heart shaped logo on the chain? Its all in the details. The necklaces retail for $37 and come in awesome designs, some vintage inspired and then the newer range is in black and white and includes a skull and even a tooth. Check them out.

Sneaky Peak at TV's Winter 10 lookbook

At 10am on Saturday morning I got a phone call saying I was invited down to the TV AW09/10 Lookbook shoot with Ryan Lobbo Styling, Nick Blair photographing and Samantha Harris modelling and would I be interested in coming??? Hell Yes I said as I raced to find a taxi as fast as I could. I'm so glad I did go down even if the night before I was out dancing till 3am with Yvan. I mean how beautiful is the collection? Not to mention the model, Sam, she was so perfect for this shoot, she was flown down from Sydney just for TV! The designers, Monika and Ingrid were very hands on at the shoot giving each look their own personal eccentric touch with a bit of flurro rope here and an improvised turban there. Please excuse my blurry photos, I only had my happy snap camera on hand.

The clothes on the rack waiting to be shot.

Ryan, Monkia and Ingrid fuss over Samantha.

The accessories table.

The bag gets poufed to perfection.

Amazing boots used in the shoot from Zomp.

Scott (my old assistant) gets to work ironing.

Sam rocks the fox.

Strikingly beautiful Sam enjoys a cold can of coke.

Decisions, decisions.

Work that floral jumpsuit.

The black dress that I am so going to buy, it has laser cuts in it that can't be seen in my bad photo.

Awesome winter coat which can be worn like this or belted.

Final adjustments.

Loving the boulder shoulder and that pattern.

I had such a great day observing the shoot and helping out when I could. TV is one of my favourite labels and to see what they have created for Winter 10 was amazing, they have really outdone themselves and come up with a beautifully executed winter collection full of must have pieces to lust after.

Limedrop Pop Up Shop

Clea and Nathan's beautiful travel themed pop up shop launched on Friday at the GPO.

The turnout was great.

It was fantastic to see all the clothes from SS09/10 in person. There are some beautiful pieces in there, like the orange dress you can see on the rack above...love...

Jim, Charlotte and Sarah bonded over a few plastic cups of limedrop punch (punch with limes in it, mmmummmm).

My friends Dylan and Rochelle are back from a 2 year stint in the UK travelling all over Europe. So jealous but its great to have them home. Missed you guys xxx

Limedrop's Pop Up Shop can be found on Level 1 of the GPO right between the Belinda and Akira stores.

After the opening a few friends and I went to a friends city rooftop to continue the party.

My internet has been disconnected at home due to Telstra error so posts this week will be sporadic at best. I have some awesome behind the scenes photos of TV's Winter 10 lookbook to post and some new outfit posts (finally) too. Bare with me guys xxx.

OH and check out my guest blog post about men's fashion in Tokyo over at Comeback Kid.

Somewhere, where else?

My sister when we first got inside the Somewhere store opening. It was bloody hot but somehow she still managed to look smoking hot in an outfit I styled for her.

Jane and Jamie from Swensk. Working on something cool for their store but its top secret right now, probably not even meant to say that, ha.

Rad Vlad with girl whose name escapes me but who has the most awesome lipstick on ever.

Estelle wearing a piece from her new SS09/10 jewellery range. Catch her work at this Sunday's Design Market at the Order of Melbourne, Level 2 / 401 Swanston Street from 12 - 5pm. More info here.

Poor Elvina was melting, as was I hence no photos of me. I looked like I had taken a shower, a sweat shower, ewww.

The fans came out in full force.

Charlotte was not impressed with the heat either.

So outside we went to the relatively cool air. Look at everyone's hipster hair. Loves it.

Sitting in gutters is du-jour at these events.

And right now an event without Yvan in attendance isn't an event at all its merely a soiree.

These shoes were hot.

And that ladies and gentlemen is all I've got!

The Bride Stripped Bare

Walking into Leo Greenfield's studio at the VCA is like walking into fringing heaven for me the lover of all things fringed. Blurring the line between fashion and art Leo's creations exemplify the idea of fashion as an artform. Studying sculpture at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts (I once attended studying photography but I kinda hated it, ha) Leo's creations are destined for the art galleries of Melbourne and not the runways of Paris, but that doesn't make them any less "fashion". The idea is to exhibit them stacked up as fringed cape totem poles, almost like fashion gods with accompanying photoshoot collages. I really identify with Leo's work as when I was at art school my work was always about fashion and how it relates to art and society as a whole. I sometimes miss the art world but artists like Leo who blur the line between art and design inspire me on a whole other level.

Leo kindly invited me to his studio to see his work in person and for an impromptu fashion shoot with fellow student Molly as the model.

Leo is also a fashion illustrator and has beautiful sketches of street fashion on his blog.

The knot ropes are made from t-shirts of Leo's from when he was a teenager. The feathers are to be cast into metal.
