French Riviera

Photobucket
No I haven't popped over to Europe. I just travelled 15 minutes by Ferry from Sydney's CBD to beautiful Watson's Bay with UK blogger Messy Carla.

Photobucket
The view of the city and the Harbour Bridge from the Gap walk is breathtaking.

As I was playing tourist I didn't dress up too much, it was more of a casual affair.

+ESTATEofMIND

Photobucket
On Thursday night Sydney store +ESTATEofMIND held a launch party to celebrate their recent renovations which saw the store refit with custom made cabinets made from recycled tyres and the walls painted with graffiti'd skulls by a local artist. The colourful spring/summer arrivals were on the racks, an exciting mix of local and international designers from Emma Mulholland to Lazy Oaf. The buying team were inspired by Harajuku for the season which is of course right up my alley, and the crowd too by the looks of them with platform boots, coloured hair and prints galore, I just had to snap away and capture the vibe to share with you all.

I got my haircut the day of the launch and it ended up being a little too short, but at least now my hair is all the one length, no more short bits from growing out my fringe. I feel a little exposed as one does with suddenly short hair, but I am loving how easy it is to style and keep neat.

Slumming in Surry

Photobucket
Hot tip: Do not have a photographer take outfit photos of you with them standing below you on a hill...or you get a whole lotta fat face as evidenced above. Fat face aside this outfit was cute for a day of slumming in Surry Hills with a friend up from Melbourne, took her to Kawa cafe and the Incu warehouse sale, fun times.

Outfit details
Polkadot Blouse Vintage from Hunter Gatherer Melbourne
Skirt Vintage from Surry Hills market for $5
Belt Vintage from Camberwell market for $10 many years ago (I wear this so much, its cost per wear value must be .0005 cents by now)

Sunnies My Karen Walkers from eyegoodies
Necklace Make Believe resin flower necklace...I need more jewellery guys, I wear this every other day and have done so for years now. Actually Bryan Boy mentioned it at MBFWA the other week where I was wearing it as we both have the same necklace after he met my friends the designers back in 2009 at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. Bryan was like "no way I love that piece, I've since lost mine". So yeah it is awesome but I do need to move on I think. You can read more about my crazy week hanging with Bryan Boy in 2009 at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. Jebus I'm old.

Pink hair by Jaye

PhotobucketJaye Edwards is an up and coming hair colourist and stylist who works on the locks of Lara Bingle, Kate Waterhouse, Erin McNaught...and now me! Jaye got in touch with me as he "wanted the opportunity to work on my beautiful hair as he always loves the colour". It was obviously all very flattering and ego boosting to read that in an email so I said yes straight away.
  Photobucket
Jaye works out of Torquil Murray, an amazing salon in a huge warehouse space in Surry Hills.
  PhotobucketSo much space!
  Photobucket
Jaye also works freelance on editorial shoots. This recent test shoot with Photographer Pat Supsiri and Model Mitch @ The Agency Models showcases his work.
PhotobucketAnd now for my amazing pink dip dyed hair. Please excuse the crap photo, it was raining super heavily outside and I was kinda getting wet on the balcony, the things I do for you! It was perfect timing for me, just before LMFF so I can have fabulously bold hair for fash week.

My mum's in town for Christmas and as such I'm off doing touristy things in and around Sydney this week. Today we visited the Paddington Reservoir Gardens, which is an old water reservoir which has been converted into a park. It was the perfect place for mum to practice her photography, snapping these great artistic photos of me for the blog. I think they're pretty awesome photos, hence I posted so many of them, thanks mum!

Sculpture by the Sea

Photobucket
When a friend invited us down to Bronte to do the Sculpture by the Sea walk to Bondi this morning we jumped at the chance. Its not every morning that you get to view the spectacular Sydney coastline and some amazing art at the same time, it sure was a great way to start the day. As much as I complain about Sydney it is a truly beautiful city which comes alive in the summer, the beaches, parks, cafes and markets are some of the best in the world and I look forward to exploring them further this year, as yes this will be our second summer in Sydney.
