Sheer Flower Power

Photobucket
While snapping these photos the weather turned suddenly and it began to rain, you can see I've got my hurry up face on. It was such a lovely day before the rain, the sun looked so inviting so we picked up some cheap salad baguettes from the local Vietnamese bakery and took Hachi down to the park for a little picnic but forgot my camera for outfit photos. So once we got home it was up to the rooftop garden for some blog snaps of what Henry calls my "Witchypoo" outfit. I do get the mystic/witchy vibes from it too I guess, but for me its mostly about the layers of sheer and my hardly worn but totally awesome pale pink jelly heels (more about those in a minute)

Collar tips are such a great way to update a shirt, I've been wearing mine so much recently, I also want to get a pair in gold.

I have no idea why I hardly ever wear these awesome pale pink jelly heels. I found them at Savers in Brunswick about four years ago around the same time I was obsessively searching ebay for a pair (preferably clear glitter like the pair I had at 13 from the first time I was allowed to go to the city by myself that I bought at Sportsgirl). They do kinda hurt more than my modern jelly sandals as the plastic is stiffer and less flexible, but man they look so cute don't you think?

Happy Hayley, now with extra forced smile. This outfit gets me excited about our upcoming Tokyo trip in May, its exactly what I see myself wearing over there, getting snapped for Fruits mag (in my dreams....ever since I was 16)...a girl can only hope.

Put a sock in it

Photobucket
This afternoon I had the pleasure of attending Happy Socks's Afternoon on the Green at the Paddington Lawn Bowls Club. The venue was spectacularly set up with a cute sock washing line hanging throughout the space with guests invited to pick their favourite to wear whilst 'barefoot bowling'. The event also gave us a chance to meet the founders of Happy Socks, Viktor and Mikael, all the way from Sweden. They had never heard of lawn bowls and were quite curious about the sport, unfortunately I had no answers as I'd never played before.

Photobucket
Happy Socks are truly happy. I've been a fan of the brand for a long while, I own five pairs already and have worn them on the blog a few times before, so I was very excited to meet the founders and see the new designs. I ended up choosing the black with pastel polka dot pair but I wanted them all.

Photobucket
Happy socks look awesome with a great pair of heels. I'm all about the open toe & cute sock look as you should all know by now.

Photobucket
Swedish Rekorderlig cider and cute n colourful straws, perfect for the warm spring day.

Photobucket
The bowling green was decorated with rainbow bunting and patterned table cloths, very fun.

I had two events today, the first was a lunch and runway show for Kmart to celebrate their Bright and Bold new season fashion with celebrity chef Kylie Kwong. You can see my photos from that on my instagram.  My outfit had to multi-task, knowing I had a Happy Sock event on later in the day I of course wanted to wear my favourite pair, and I wanted to be on theme for Kmart, so voila this is what I wore for both events. So that explains my very bright and bold outfit for an afternoon of lawn bowls. The bones tee is my other DI$COUNT purchase, I thought it looked really cute with my collar popping out.

My week on Instagram

Photobucket
I've been sent the new Prada by LG smart phone by the lovely folk at Vodafone which means I'm testing out all the apps and features of my new phone and so far my favourite app by far is instagram. I'll actually be hosting a competition for your chance to win your very own Prada by LG phone on Monday 23rd April so keep your eyes peeled for that. For now though I thought I'd share my first week of instagram snaps. Above is my favourite cafe in Glebe, Clipper Cafe, who do the best all day breakfasts and Henry swears by their Chai which is a special blend made in house by the owners Indian mother. As someone who doesn't like tea I can tell you this one smells beautiful.

Photobucket
I've been wearing my new clear Jelly Beans sandals out and about (when it hasn't been raining).

Photobucket
We stumbled across this street art on our walk home from Glebe. It literally is street art.

Photobucket
I did a spot of shopping in Paddington.

Photobucket
I bought a massivly discounted fuchsia pink crochet collar from Sportsgirl for only $4.95 and an oversized smiley badge from World NZ. Both pieces are perfect for my fash week wardrobe.

Photobucket
I went to the Bam Brands Spring/Summer showings. Loved the new nautical collection by Chip Chop.

Photobucket
Loved this jumper at Alice McCall but trying it on in warm weather was hellish.

Photobucket
Pink floral Dr Martens = love.

Photobucket
Enjoyed the company of friends Byron Spencer, Val and Paul Bui at the Giorgio Armani store launch last night.

Photobucket
Had too much to drink with my fave fellow Melbournite living it up in Sydney, Emilia. We used to work together at Melbourne Street Fashion.com in what feels like another lifetime ago. And yes that's an Emma Mulholland top she's wearing, she got it at the Big Fashion Sale where I got my latest Elke Kramer bangle.

Joyrich Cash Money

Photobucket
As soon as I saw this shiny plastic skirt come up on  ASOS  I knew I had to have it. Its everything I am into right now, shiny, a-line and with a kind of super hero x 90's vibe. I'm done with trying to wear classic pieces, not that that's what I've ever really been about, but now I can safely say I'm done with even trying to do it. Give me plastic, sparkle, boldness and novelty over classic, simple and timeless any day of the week.

Tokyo yo-yo

Photobucket
Yes, I'm finally back in Tokyo and its like I never left, it still feels like home to me. I'm like a yo-yo, I keep coming back, choosing to visit Tokyo again rather than go somewhere else as for me Tokyo is the ultimate destination for fashion, friends and fun.

On day one I wore:
Denim shirt Vintage, Surry Hills Market
Sheer blouse Sportsgirl
Collar tips ASOS
Sheer polka dot skirt ASOS
Blue faux fur tail Deadly Ponies at the Alphaville sale in Melbourne
Platform sneakers ASOS

Photobucket

Necklace Lactose Intoler-Art
Eye belt ASOS
Bangle Elke Kramer

Photobucket
I'm over in Tokyo with my friend and styling assistant Sofie, and of course my husband Henry who took this photo. Above we stopped by the Kita-Kore building to check out my friend Koshiro's shop Garter and Rachel's shop ilil which I've previously blogged about. It was Henry's first visit, as this is his first trip back since we lived here  5 years ago and this all happened in that time. As an architect he is amazed at the ever evolving building and how it is allowed to exist when planning rules in Australia are so strict and the bulk of his work back home is making DA's (development applications).

Photobucket
Sofie's Stretsis skirt is super kawaii.

Photobucket
From left to right, Henry, Brandon from Lactose Intoler-Art, Tavuchi the owner of Spank, Sofie and me. This was the first time I have met Brandon in person, after being online friends for 5 years since he discovered me on myspace back when I lived in Tokyo. We have supported each other's work for so long it has been amazing to finally meet him, and of course I wore his necklace.

Photobucket
Spank is as kawaii as ever.

Photobucket
So kawaii!

Photobucket
Tavuchi took us on a tour of Harajuku, to all her favourite shops. Here we are at Tokyo Bopper shoes which is always painful to visit as they don't carry my size.

Photobucket
Nadia, which I blogged about on my last visit to Tokyo, has exploded in popularity recently. They are the place to go for platform converse, tattoo tights and all the other Harajuku on-trend items right now. The shop staff posed for a photo as she loved my Lactose Intoler-Art necklace (the drawing is of another Nadia staff member, Manitas)

Photobucket
Nicola Formichetti, who is most famous as Lady Gaga's stylist and for being the Creative Director for the relaunch of Thierry Mugler, was in Tokyo to launch his Nico Panda line. I have loved his work long before his Lady Gaga days, back when he mostly worked on Dazed and Confused magazine I was obsessed with collecting and clipping his shoots so to say I was excited to be meeting him is an understatement.

Photobucket
The Nico Panda collection.

Photobucket
Here I am meeting my idol, hence my extreme happy face. The best part about meeting him was that about 3 weeks ago he actually emailed me out of the blue to ask about some Australian fashion contacts, so when I went up to him he was like "you're that Australian girl"...so yes he knew who I was which is crazier than crazy.

Photobucket
This guy was wearing head to toe Mugler for the event.

Photobucket
Mugler.

Photobucket
and more Mugler.

Photobucket
He got Nicola to sign the inside of his Mugler blazer.

Photobucket
Harajuku idol Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is EVERYWHERE right now. On about 5 different tv ads which also get played on the tv screens on the trains, billboards all over the city and with advertising trucks blaring her music as her album just launched. All this is great for me as I freaking love her, Pon Pon Pon and Candy Candy are always on repeat on my prada phone! I picked up the Spank! and Nadia badges during the day's shopping, cho kawaii!

Photobucket
Some Puri Kura fun with Brandon, Sofie and Henry. It's not my birthday till Wednesday (omg going to Disney Sea for the first time, can not wait!!!) but this is what we ended up with, pretty kawaii ne?

Photobucket
At the in-store event for Nico Panda Nicola signed my limited edition Nico Panda bearbrick, and he said Lady Gaga has the same one! Exciting.

Basketball Diaries

Photobucket
After all my excitement about MBFWA I ended up in bed sick for most of the week and missed all but day 1 of the shows. To make up for it, and to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary on Saturday Henry and I decided to head to Surry Hills market (otherwise known as my favourite place in Sydney) and have lunch at Bourke Street Bakery which never disappoints. Just a relaxed celebration before a romantic dinner at our new favourite Japanese restaurant that evening. The market ended up being great as usual, I picked up a new brown beaded belt, a new camel pleated skirt and the amazing vintage pleather jacket I'm wearing in the above photo.

The amazing fringed pleather jacket that I scored at Surry Hills market on the weekend in all its fringey goodness.
