Pigeon's and Squirrel's oh my

Photobucket
In a bid to acquaint myself with Sydney's fashion scene, tonight I went to the launch of Secret Squirrel's new collection at Pigeon Ground in Newtown with some friends. Pigeon Ground is a cute little boutique which sells both new and vintage clothing as well as being a record shop located in a quaint out of the way spot in suburbia. Believe me, it is worth the walk from the station because the vintage is well curated and most importantly not at normal Sydney rip off prices (oh Savers how I miss you), and the selection of current season stock is a mix of quirky and classic pieces, again at such good prices.

Seeing the Spring/Summer Secret Squirrel collection in person was amazing, so many lust worthy pieces that I'm going to be dreaming about for a while.

I'm loving seeing socks and clogs at the moment.

A funny moment in the store when I saw these rings. I was like, oh wow these are those rings from that nice lady at the market in Brooklyn that I bought from and blogged about. Turns out the owners of Pigeon Ground read my blog and bought the rings after seeing them in that post. Small world.

  2. Funkis clogs have been around for so long, who knew they would become such a trend, I do love the look with the socks. Those rings are amazing, got to get me one of those!

The last time I was in Sydney I went to a club called Favela, cool space for a stylish chick like yersel http://www.favela.com.au/

Hope Sydney is treating you well : )

  3. You really need to get your head around Sydney! Newtown is far from suburbia.. take a train for an hour out to Blacktown, that is suburbia! Sydney encompasses a 60 km radius.. Newtown is still inner sydney. Try heading out to the West, down to the Shire or up to the Northern Beaches if you get a chance, there is some great exploring to do in op shops in these areas.

  4. Clementine, actually I probably wrote it confusingly, but I meant its not in the main drag of Newtown, its a 15 min walk from the station on a suburban street, the only such shop on the strip. I do get that Sydney is large, just like Melbourne isn't just the CBD and is spread out, or even Tokyo :P

  5. I think I also wrote my comment somewhat confusingly :) What I was trying to say was you should def try to get out to real suburbia and scour the salvos and op shops when you can, it is most def worth the time spent on the train!

  6. Sydney needs more quirky little vintage x new shops such as this! More reasonably priced AND quality products.

    Love the rings.

  7. I used to love this shop when I lived in Sydney! I'm so glad it is still going strong (or even stronger) and that you've discovered it! I have some great vintage pieces from there, but being a bit out of the way I always used to hope I was not their only customer! I remember I loved their accessories as well xx
