Fashion Hayley Loves Antipodium for Sportsgirl

Photobucket
Its true, I love Antipodium, and have for a long time. I was lucky enough to meet Geoffrey J Finch and Fenella from Antipodium at Melbourne Fashion Week in 2009 and got this lovely happy snap with them like the fan girl that I am.

Photobucket

Photobucket
I blogged my love of their SS 2009 collection and amazing jewellery collaboration with my friends Amber and Ebony at Make Believe (you know that big black rose necklace I am always wearing? Well its from this collaboration). I loved that they had my pal Andrej Pejic walk the runway before he was famous and that they used "real" people to model the collection proving you don't have to be stick thin to look amazing in their clothes.

Photobucket

So that is why I am so excited by the new Sportsgirl Likes Collaboration with Antipodium. When I first heard about the collab with Antipodium I was super duper frigging excited and upon seeing the collection I am not disappointed at all. I think its by far the best Sportsgirl Likes collection (I tweeted as much too) as it really is staying true to Antipodiums cheeky quirky aesthetic.
Photobucket
I'm so buying the skirt and dress! Look 1: Antipodium Wilton Way Shirt $120, Antipodium Regents Canal Skirt $100. Look 2: Antipodium Wilton Way Dress $140
Photobucket
Freaking LOVE that Anorak! Look 3: Antipodium Cambridge Heath Anorak $150 and Antipodium London Fields Short $90. Look 4: Antipodium London Fields Dress $140
Photobucket
The ultimate classic, the striped tee with a twist. Look 5: Antipodium Regents Canal Tee $80 and Antipodium Wilton Way Skirt $90 Look 6: Antipodium Cambridge Heath Anorak $150, Antipodium Wilton Way Shirt $120 and Antipodium Cambridge Heath Short $100
Photobucket Take  a closer look at the print, if you look closely at the paisley shapes you will actually see Geoffrey's face with his now trademark specs staring back at you (FYI he wasn't wearing them back when I met him, but I was wearing mine, maybe I inspired the glasses choice? haha j/k). Its little details like the paisley print with a twist that really make this collection so damned fun. I'm so buying the blue and white striped maxi skirt and cute skater style dress as soon as they are released in September. What pieces are you buying? Also please let me win the trip to London as I would very much like to go. That is all xoxo

Big life changes

Photobucket
You may need to sit down because

Photobucket
I've thrown caution to the wind

Photobucket
and moved to Sydney.

Photobucket
Yep, that's right. I've moved cities, hence a really long time between blog posts (sorry guys). I haven't even blogged all my NYC photos yet and I've been back nearly 3 weeks now. Luckily I wore some of my NYC purchases while out showing Henry around (yesterday was his 1st ever day in Sydney, yep the day he moved here). I came up last weekend to look for an apartment and we signed the lease on this awesome 1 bedroom apartment near Surry Hills yesterday, can't wait to show you guys. I can't believe how fast that was and that this all happened so suddenly. I got offered a job with City Chic while I was in NYC, and went through the interview process as soon as I got home and got it, so that is amazing, and now I start Monday. It's an amazing opportunity, working in the buying team (only as admin buying assistant) but there is room to grow and I love the team. I'm really lucky to be getting my dream career all because of my blog, so don't worry I'm going to be blogging more regularly soon (it may take time to get the internet on in our new place so give me time) I will never stop blogging, it has changed my life!

Anyway outfit details:

Brown floppy hat: Fun Accessories $29.95 My favourite accessory right now.
Make Believe necklace: gift from the designers
Dress: NEW from Topshop in NYC $90
Elke Kramer bangle: gift
Leggings: Kinji in Harajuku $8
Brown belt: Came with a dress I bought in NYC so free

Photobucket
Last but not least, the shoes are from Topshop in NYC again, only $90 and I bloody love them. By the way, I didn't only shop at Topshop while I was in NYC, I have so much more to show you but its all in boxes and bags right now.

Williamsburg aka my fave part of NYC

Photobucket
Nicolette (middle) lives in the most fabulous NYC style loft in Williamsburg, exposed brick walls, dark floorboards and a galley kitchen, oh I was in love. This photo was taken on her rooftop with a view of Manhattan and the Williamsburg bridge. Sakina and I were in awe of the view.

Photobucket

Photobucket
5 Leaves, the Williamsburg establishment that was initially set up by the late Heath Ledger. It has a very Australian vibe about it. Looks like it could be in Fitzroy, Surry Hills or Fortitude Valley.

Photobucket
The interior is all muted tones and vintage furniture. Glasses are old jam jars, reminds me of my Nana's house.

Photobucket
I was meeting up with Dylan and Rochelle, who you may remember from a post a while back where I was excited they were finally home after 2 years in the UK. Well as soon as they were home they left again for New York for a few months. This was actually their last night in New York before going home.

Photobucket
One of the best meals I had the whole time I was away, home made beetroot ravioli with burnt butter sauce. To die for.

Photobucket
An empty lot on Bedford Ave, a great place for this random Gorilla sitting at a desk playing guitar installation.

Photobucket
You can tell this is a hipster area by the number of bicycles left at the station.

Photobucket
I met up with my friend Ebony (one of the women behind Make Believe, they make those giant flower necklaces, we know each other because we all lived in Tokyo at the same time) she has moved to NYC with her boyfriend, who is a musician.

Photobucket
Here Ole is playing in his band...the name of which I forget. They were really good though.

Photobucket
Love love love

Photobucket
Beacons Closet is where I found some vintage Miu Miu's for $18. I didn't buy them though as they weren't my size. I do wish I bought this awesome bag I found, I went back a day later and it was gone. It was the perfect replacement to my slowly falling apart fringed bag.

Photobucket
OAK is a store everyone was telling me to check out. It was pretty fabulous, you should check out the online store. I checked out the Manhattan branch too. At the Williamsburg store you need to buzz and then they open the door for you, problem is I couldn't find the damn buzzer, cue much embarrassment. I was pleased to notice they sell Australian label Evil Twin amoungst the Alexander Wang and OAK's own in house label A.OK.

Photobucket
I sure hope so.

Photobucket
I saw a truck on fire. Directly below the train tracks.

Photobucket

Photobucket
I bumped into Nicolette and her partner on Bedford Ave on their way to the Roaring 20's: Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. Click the link to check out her photos of the event. They both look so chic.

Photobucket
Another blogger I got to meet up with was Queen Gilda, who I have wanted to meet for a very long time because we both share an intense love of Japan, as we both have lived there. She studied fashion at both Tokyo's Bunka and NYC's Parsons so she is definitely going places in the fashion industry. Check out her kawaii thesis collection Revasseue: for lovers and daydreamers. Oh and the girl we are sitting on the stoop with is a lovely reader from Australia, who is living in NYC at the moment, and she had hoped to bump into me around town, and well she did. So nice when people say hi to me, and so surprising when it happens overseas.

Photobucket
We went to the Williamsburg Artists and Fleas market, which is very much like the Rose Street Market back home, with a bit more vintage thrown in. But geeeeeez it was the hottest day in the history of hot days, we also went shopping in Soho, and by the end we needed to buy lots of lemonade and cheap $2.50 Old Navy thongs (flip flops) because of the blisters (well my shoes actually fell apart after surviving intact a whole summer in Aus and trip to Tokyo, New York got them in the end).

Photobucket

Photobucket
I was drawn to this bright table, and the cute dog.

Photobucket
I bought a geometric red ring from this stall holder, similar designs are available from her Etsy store Helveta Vyotlag.

Wet N Wild in NYC with Garbage Dress

Photobucket
I met up with Zana Bayne, aka Garbage Dress, in her hood in Brooklyn. She wanted to show me the real New York, where kids play with open fire hydrants and block parties just happen.

Photobucket
I forget what she wore, but it is all so awesome, the dress has this hint of red through it that is only noticeable in the light. (UPDATE: Zana informed me that her dress is from Surface To Air and the white and black shoes are Rick Owens) Her jewellery was awesome too, I got to try on her Meadowlark collab claw ring, which made me really want one for myself.

Photobucket
Zana gave me a sample of one of her Zana Bayne Leather pieces, the wing boot straps. The only shoes I have with me that work are my sandals, but I'm itching to try them out with some boots back home, it is winter there right now after all. (Taking this photo in a hostel caused a lot of questions, I mean it is strange to take photos of shoes I guess, but to me after 4 years of doing this its second nature) I am so happy to have met one of my blogging idols. Zana is a true gem on the scene, her blog inspires me in so many ways and meeting her just reinforced what a lovely, talented young lass she really is. Thanks so much Zana xxx

YFF Blogger Conference day 2 in New York

Photobucket
Day 2 saw us head over to the photography studio of Plus Model Magazine for a fashion shoot for the August issue. As those of us in the second slot for hair and make-up walked in we were greeted with Gabi looking hot on the computer preview from her shoot. Got us all excited for what was in store for us.

Photobucket
Sakina getting her make-up done.

Photobucket
The fabulous hair and make-up room and the talented team.

Photobucket
Amazing jewellery from Fennimas to use in the shoot. I loved the feather pieces but they didn't go with what I brought in to wear.

Photobucket
Me modelling in the studio. Very very very awkward, I don't know how models do it. As soon as they put Lady Gaga on though I began to relax and get into it, dancing up a storm. Can't wait to show you the results from the shoot, especially so you can see me with curly hair, which was very different for me. I wore my Dirty Rich sheer + hands top, City Chic fringed skirt, We Love Colors leggings, Tsumori Chisato wedges, Elke Kramer bangle and my Drown Refraction necklace.

Photobucket
Next it was time for the City Chic dinner and drinks at Cafeteria and showing of the new collection.

Photobucket
Christina loved her goody bag.

Photobucket
As did Melinda and Sakina (who is rocking her ring from the bag) with Phil the CEO.

Photobucket
Getting ready to see the new collection.

Photobucket
Everyone waiting in anticipation.

Photobucket
Lucy, the designer, went through each piece one by one and this was by far my favourite. I'm a sucker for sheer and black at the moment.

Photobucket
My veggie burger, the only vegetarian option (again!), was terrible, but this peanut butter and chocolate dessert totally made up for it.

Photobucket
The girls enjoying the cake.

The rest of the night is a blur thanks to the open bar. We ended up at a rooftop pool party in the meatpacking district and then getting a limo back to our hotel, most of which I do not remember, hence no photos. I missed out on the last event with Macys - American Rag the next day thanks to a whopping hang over, and at that event the girls were given a $300 gift card each, oh boy how I regreted the night before when I heard that.

The YFF conference was such a fun weekend, it was so good to meet all the girls and to talk about fashion and plus size issues and to just hang out in fabulous New York. I can't wait for next time.

Thanks to all the sponsors for making the event happen: City Chic, Evans, Faith21, Simply Be, Macys - American Rag, Torrid, ModCloth, Boutique Larrieux, and We Love Colors.
