Pink Panther

Upping my pinkcore all pink all the time game with this 100% pink look. I bought these happy and sad face pink Lazy Oaf pants at the start of winter from Save Yourself Shop in Fitzroy but quickly discovered they're more suited to warmer weather wear so they were pushed to the back of my wardrobe during the colder months. I was so excited to be finally able to wear them out again now that it has slightly warmed up here in Melbourne, and even more excited as I now have this awesome DIY pink iron on patch denim jacket to pair them with!

I love my butt in these pants!

This is my latest DIY project, the instructions for which are over on the City Chic blog. Essentially I dyed a white denim jacket pink then ironed on some cute patches I had collected then hand stitched them in the corners to firmly affix them to the jacket as I sadly lost one the first time I wore the jacket out. I bloody am obsessed with this jacket though, it's the perfect lightweight jacket for spring and now looks super cute and personal and it gets never ending compliments.

Purple Picnic

Hello sunshine! Where have you been? It's so good to see you again, thanks for stopping by. So good infact I decided to spend all day yesterday soaking you up in the park. Being 'Fashion Hayley' I couldn't just head to the park in any old garb, no I had to dress up in a crazy all lilac outfit that even accidentally (on purpose) matched my bicycle! Oh, and with a perfectly styled picnic in tow too! My local park was full of people enjoying the sunshine too, which was lovely. Bumped into a few friends. I do love my little Melbourne bubble ever so much. I've been waiting for a chance to use my new picnic basket I bought at a local op shop, it's the cutest picnic basket I have ever seen I think.

I am in freaking LOVE with this whole outfit from City Chic. Yes to the matching prints, yes to the lilac and yes to the painterly floral design. It's probably my most favourite outfit from City Chic ever to be honest, a big departure from their usual collections which I'm very excited about. They just keep on getting more and more bold and fashion forward which I think is needed in the plus size fashion arena. I have wanted a full matching print set for a while now, so I couldn't say no to these when I saw them in store. The best part is Julia Pound the ever stylish buyer and owner of hip Melbourne boutique Dagmar Rousset complimented me on the look and couldn't get over the fact that it was by a plus size brand. I love when that happens, when plus size fashion is coveted by fashion forward straight sized people because for once they can feel our pain of not being able to fit into something awesome. And awesome this look is!

I'm still loving my lilac Reid Cycles vintage style bicycle one year on, Mine hasn't had any of the mechanical issues that some people wrote to me about. Although we bought my sister a mint green one for Christmas and she did have an issue with the chain/gears but that was covered by her warranty. She also rides hers every day to and from work whereas I'm more of a casual weekend rider. Just to note that I did actually buy both of these mentioned bikes, they weren't gifted to me at all, so this is an honest and upfront review of them. For me it's perfect for getting around my neighbourhood AND is just so cute so really it's a win win situation. Cute and useful, what's not to love?

I'm addicted to my shellac manicures. So much so that I've almost sold my entire nail polish collection. Why paint my own nails when shellac lasts so much longer and doesn't chip at all? I'm in love with Goddess of Nails and Beauty at the Emporium because they have the most amazing selection of colours I have ever seen as I shared over on my instagram. There is almost too many to choose from. I've been getting a pink base colour with glitter over the top for the past few months which is fun but maybe I need to change it up a bit. Not sure what to try next, any ideas?

Living The Dream

I'm very lucky that my street here in Melbourne has a lot of incredible street art. It really makes walking the dog a lot of fun, seeing what is new on the walls this week. They also conveniently make great backdrops for blog outfit photography! I thought this 'Living the Dream' piece by artist Camille Walala was the perfect backdrop for my super colourful almost Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat inspired outfit. The dress is a new buy from local Melbourne label Obus. I instagram'd a change room try on pic asking if I should indeed buy it and got an overwhelming response of HECK YES! So not one to disappoint the people (what did I just say?) I went ahead and bought it. I'm selfless like that, always thinking of others! Jokes aside I do love this dress, the Aguayo inspired print is just incredible.

It's been incredibly windy in Melbourne of late so my hair was a little worse for wear in these photos after being blown around all day. But whatevs at least I'm semi smiling for once.

Melissa Australia kindly sent me these Japanese Geta inspired flatform jelly shoes and they've fast become my favourite pair. I love me a good flatform but these are extra special because of that mash up of traditional Japanese footwear and the modern jelly shoe.

Valentines Day Spring Break

For Valentines Day this year Henry surprised me with a breakfast in bed of heart shaped crumpets on a heart shaped plate (as you can see on my instagram). Anyway, underneath the heart shaped plate were two tickets for Luna Park, a special Valentines Day unlimited ride ticket that also included free fairy floss, a special ride photo and one free carnival game. This was extra special as Henry absolutely hates rides, crowds and just about everything Luna Park stands for, but he knows I love it, always have and always will. Our first stop for the evening was St Kilda beach for some fish and chips watching the sunset.

Yay, Luna Park time. I actually have a cute couple shot of Henry and I over on instagram but annoyingly the Luna Park sign and our feet were cut off. Geez Louise, when are the strangers you rope into taking photos of you at tourist spots going to learn about framing? Ha ha.

I actually bought this Emma Mulholland t-shirt that day from the Magic Designer Sale held in Fitzroy. I do believe it's a mens tee, but oh well, and I'm also wearing it backwards because I freaking love the Spring Break design and thought it was kinda perfect for a night by the beach at an amusement park.

I really wanted to wear my platforms but Henry insisted I wear comfortable shoes, and what's more comfy than a pair of jelly sandals?

Kaboom

 photo PopArt05_zps4f5b2f5d.jpg
Last week I had some friends in town from Melbourne and while out shopping with them one day I spotted this awesome comic book pencil skirt in the last chance section at Topshop. My heart started pounding, I had to have it, they needed my size and it also had to fit. They only had two size 12's left but looking at the stretch of the fabric I decided to try it on and see if I could make it work, and obviously the rest is history. It fit perfectly, and it came home with me for the grand ol' price of $54, a total bargain. Sometimes I forget the thrill of shopping in real life as opposed to online, chancing upon a statement making bargain just like that.

Subtle Nature

 photo Dover03_zps629718be.jpg
A few Hobartians expressed disappointment in my previous toned down in Tassie outfit, believing I toned it down for the people of Hobart. In actuality I toned it down (as much as possible from my limited Melbourne luggage) for the reason we were in Tasmania, meeting with Real Estate agents, lawyers etc for my mum's potential move to the Apple Isle. I didn't want to distract from the important happenings, it wasn't about me, it was about my mum. I also only had carry on luggage so most of my accessories were left on the main land. Sometimes less is more anyway, and with this look I feel that the look twice nature of it is more subversive and interesting anyway. Looking at it from afar the outfit is almost businessy, but on closer inspection the printed blouse is all kinds of bad ass with its money print awesomeness.

Close up detail of the Joyrich shirt's money print. Joyrich is one of my favourite brands and I used to have to wait until I was in Tokyo to buy it as they don't have an online store. When I saw them pop up on ASOS I was overjoyed as now its so much easier to buy me some Joyrich awesomeness.

LMFF City Chic + Damn You Alexis

Yes I realise LMFF was a little while ago now, but I've been busy organising and managing the SOS Japan fundraiser. Essentially as soon as the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan my LMFF was over, at least in the way it was originally planned. My heart was broken for the people of Japan, and I was so very worried about all my friends over there, I even started questioning the point of fashion when the world was in such a state. I was also hobbling around on crutches with a sore knee so it wasn't ideal circumstances to be attending and reporting on fashion week in the first place. The SOS Japan fundraiser and the amazing effort everyone poured into it has definitely lifted my spirits, I don't feel so useless being on the other side of the world unable to help anymore, and I can finally get back to blogging normally. Again thanks to everyone who helped raise over $1700 for the Red Cross.

Photobucket
An exciting part of Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival this year was the inclusion of a plus size brand for the first time ever. City Chic had a fashion forward runway show at Federation Square, an amazing backdrop for the futuristic fashions on display. The fashion world is moving more towards acceptance, and its great to be able to show the world that, yes, plus size clothing can be fashionable.

Photobucket
Its not cool to say this, but I do love me some Rihanna, and as this dress walked down the runway her new hit single S&M was playing, the perfect fit don't you think? *Bad hipster owning up to my shameful taste in music

Photobucket
Plus sized doesn't have to mean shapeless sacks anymore, you can be just as fashion forward as the rest of them. Loving the sheer fabric floating in the wind on this one off raunchy dress.

Photobucket
The blue crushed velvet dress is on my must haves list.

Damn You Alexis, the label recently launched and has already collaborated with City Chic on a four piece capsule collection which will launch in stores at the end of this month. The one shouldered dress with the peplum detail is such a great shape for curvy ladies, the leather bustier maxi dress is so on trend right now, the blue crushed velvet dress is the perfect spot of colour for the coming colder months worn with tights and a leather jacket and finally the "galaxy" style dress is sophisticated enough for the office and fashion forward enough for Friday night drinks with the girls. Personally I want all four dresses, how about you?

You can see more images from the runway over at the City Chic blog.

Spider Ring and New York Bling

Photobucket
City Chic has some amazing new accessories, clothes and not to mention a hot new flagship store here in Melbourne. Check out my blog for them here to check out more great photos. Its so good to finally have a great plus size retailer doing innovative new things in Australia by getting involved with online social media and creating fun fashion forward clothes for us fatshion lovers. Oh and did I tell you they are sponsoring the Young Fat & Fabulous Blogger Conference in New York in July and I am attending? I am so excited to be going, its going to be so much fun meeting the other bloggers and, well, being in New York and all!!!
